This post is a little late...8 weeks late, but we have been pretty busy getting to know our little boy. He is such a awesome baby, we couldn't be happier.

38 Weeks (10 Days until our Due Date)

With 10 days until our due date we are getting pretty anxious. So far I am not dilated, so the doctor is guessing that the baby might come a little late. As of today the doctor said that the baby is about 7 1/2 lbs. He is going to be a big boy!

Nursery

We have been spending alot of our free time getting the nursery ready in case the baby comes early. You don't realize all the little things that need to get done before the baby comes. We are glad that we have my mom to help. We have been getting all the clothes, blankets, and bedding washed. We have also been stocking up on diapers and wipes. The room is almost finished. The last thing I want to do is paint something on the wall behind the crib. Hopefully I will get that done next weekend.

Baby Shower

We had such a great time at our baby shower. It was great to be surrounded by family and friends. We got a ton of goodies for Jackson! We are so thankful to everyone. We are starting to get pretty anxious now that we only have 5 weeks left.

32 Weeks (8 weeks to go)

We can't believe that we only have 8 more weeks until we get to meet our baby. We are so excited. We have been taking our childbirth prep classes, and we have learned a lot! Some of the info has definitely made me more nervous about the delivery, but I am glad we know what to expect.

Belly at 26 Weeks

It seems like my belly popped out overnight. One day I could button my jeans and the next I was in maternity jeans.

Babymoon in Seattle

My parents were nice enough to let us use a credit for Alaska airlines that was going to expire. So Jake and I decided to use this opportunity to go somewhere that we have never gone before...Seattle. We spent the weekend there and had a great time. We were really lucky with the weather, and we only got a little rain and a little snow. We did a ton of walking and eating :) Seattle has so many awesome restaurants that were in walking distance from our hotel. We took the underground tour and learned a lot about the history of Seattle. I would suggest this tour to anyone. It was really interesting and the tour guide was hilarious. It was really nice to get away, beause who knows when we are going to be able to get another weekend alone after the baby comes.

It's a BOY!!!!

We had our 19 week doctor's appointment on Monday 2/2/09. We had our first ultrasound and we found out that we are having a boy! We are both so excited. I have to admit I was really surprised. This whole time I was convinced that it was going to be a girl. But I could not be happier! The ultrasound was amazing. Jake and I got to watch the baby move around for about a half an hour. We saw him open and close his mouth and eyelids. We even watched as he kicked me right in the bladder :) While we watched, the tech was measuring the babies bones and organs to make sure that everything looked good. The doctor said that he is coming along great, and that he is perfectly healthy. Now we just have to give this little boy a name. Hopefully we will decide soon. We have narrowed it down to a couple of choices so it shouldn't be long. It is hard to tell what this picture is so I will explain a little. It is a picture of his profile. You can see his head to the left and up above that is his hand. Down to the right is his little foot kicking away.

16 Week Appointment

Yesterday was our 16 week doctors appointment. Unfortunately they lost my test results from my first blood test, so they had to take 6 tubes of blood...yuck. They need all that blood so they can do the CVS test (from the first trimester again), and the multiple marker screening. Basically they are testing for any chromosomal or genetic disorders. The nurse said that if something shows up she gets a phone call within a week. If nothing shows up then she gets the results via mail in two to three weeks. So we are just hoping that we don't get a phone call from her so we know that everything came back clean.
The best part of the visit was (and always is) when we got to listen to the heartbeat. The doctor said that it was strong and that it sounded like the baby was moving around alot. I can't feel the baby moving yet but I should be able to in a few weeks...can't wait. Our next appointment is February 2nd. It's the big one! We get to have our first ultrasound, which means that we will find out the sex. I can't wait to know what we are having. I am all ready to pick out paint for the baby's room!

First Post

Happy 2009!
With our wedding not far behind us and a baby on the way, it has been a really busy last few months for us. That is why we decided to start this blog. It seems like a great way for us to keep our friends and family updated on what is going on. We have had some great inspiration from The Johnson family blog over the last couple of years, so I thought that we could give it a try. We hope that the new year finds everyone healthy and happy.
